The Arts
The arts program at Dock Mennonite Academy is an essential component of the learning experience.
Dock student musicians and artists shine on stage and in the studio, as well as in the classroom, with many going on to participate in the arts at the collegiate level.
The arts have a unique capability to tap into emotion and connect us to one another, which is important for all students to experience. Whether it is playing the violin, painting a canvas, or singing in the musical’s chorus, actively participating in the arts is an opportunity made available to all students.
Teachers, in partnership with parent volunteers, work together to ensure students stay involved and learn valuable skills—creativity, confidence, perseverance, how to receive constructive feedback, collaboration—in the process. The musicals especially bring together the school’s entire arts community from set and costume designers to actors, vocalists, and musicians.
Experience Real-World Arts
With Philadelphia and New York nearby, Dock students are able to participate in organized trips to prestigious art galleries, theaters, and concert halls.
Some student groups also travel nationally and internationally to perform—sharing their talents with others who have an appreciation for the arts.

A Dock Tradition: Arts Day
Arts Day is an annual celebration of the arts within the Dock community. A theme is chosen and the day is devoted entirely to students sharing their talents in stage events, and through creative writing, culinary, fabric, and visual arts. The culmination is a public performance of selected Arts Day pieces that best demonstrate technical skill and excellence in creativity.
