More than a game

For more than four decades, Athletic Director Tim Ehst has demonstrated that a drive for excellence and a commitment to authentic faith can, and should, go hand in hand.

Tim Ehst has invested much of his life, passion, and energy into Dock. He attended Dock as a student, graduating in 1971. After college, he came to Christopher Dock Mennonite High School in 1978 as a teacher and some years later stepped into a leadership role, giving guidance to the Dock athletic program.

"Tim has navigated the complexity of athletic leadership so well," says Dock Superintendent Dr. Conrad Swartzentruber. "He understands the integration of faith and athletics. He is always challenging coaches and students toward an authentic faith experience and expression. He respects the balance of academics and athletics. His philosophy of balancing winning with the drive for excellence is one that has guided Dock well over the past decades and continues to be relevant and effective today in this very different culture."

Tim is a mentor for many coaches and ADs. "My former AD at another school highly valued Tim’s perspective and advice," Dr. Swartzentruber says. Tim’s recognition by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Directors Association as the 2017 PIAA Region I Athletic Director of the Year is another indicator that his impact extends far beyond the Dock community.

"On a personal level, I always enjoy the rides to BAL meetings with Tim," Dr. Swartzentruber adds. "His thoughtful reflections and observations of topics ranging from faith to service to educational philosophy are always stimulating and thought-provoking. Tim thinks and cares deeply about people and life. He cares deeply about this school. Tim enriches the lives of those around him, including my own, and I value that."

Dock Athletics' biggest booster

Tim Ehst also gives leadership to Dock's Booster Club, the parent organization that supports the school's athletic program.
