Henry Rosenberger '63 - 2016 Alumni of the Year

Discovering the value of investment by others

Henry Rosenberger credits the encouragement of Dock faculty and staff with helping him to recognize, and realize, his potential.

Henry founded Rosenberger Cold Storage and Transport in 1972 after graduating from Eastern Mennonite University with a B.A.in Business Administration. He started Rosenberger Ice Company in 1980, and led Rosenberger Cold Storage until it was sold in 1998. In the 1990’s, he purchased 500 acres of farmland in Blooming Glen, Bucks County, and has preserved most of the land permanently as open space. Another 84 acres of Tussock Sedge Farm are part of a Forest Stewardship Program.

"Christopher Dock is ground zero for my development," Henry said as he accepted his Outstanding Achievement Award in October 2016. "This award is achieved only because there have been persons in my life who have raised me, trusted me, people who saw qualities in me and nurtured me—people like Pearl Schrack, Roland Yoder, and Richard Detweiler—while I still did not know myself or my potential as a change agent in the world."
