Dock School Family,
Today the Montgomery County Office of Public Health board approved an order that all public and private schools in our county are required to go to remote learning from November 23 – December 6.
We keep a current dashboard showing active cases on our website. We currently have only one positive case—a student on the High School campus. Since the beginning of the school year, we have had a total of two positive student cases and four positive faculty/staff cases. We are pleased with these low numbers. We have, however, needed to quarantine and isolate classes and students to ensure everyone’s safety. Your attention to safety has been the key to our success! As a faith community, we also recognize God’s protection. While we are grateful for our better than expected experience so far, we understand the county’s concern with rising numbers around us.
Dock will move to remote learning from November 23 – December 6. Next week we will work to make sure each teacher and student is prepared for the transition and will communicate additional specific details to you. The learning will generally be synchronous with the timing of classes the same as when students are on campus. We may make some adjustments for the youngest classes and will communicate any exceptions or adjustments to you next week.
We will work with you on any technology needs you may have to participate in Remote Learning. We have had experience with a couple classes needing to move to Remote Learning for a period of time, so we feel this transition can go well and students can remain engaged.
You have always been so gracious and flexible as we have navigated this difficult year together! We know this situation is not ideal for any of us. Thanks in advance for your patience and flexibility as we continue to support our students. More information will be coming next week but as we get closer to Remote Learning and you still have questions, please let us know.
