Spring 2019 Service Project
Service is FUN!
The Dock community came out on March 12 to learn and have fun together—and in the process bring a small measure of comfort to refugees in war-torn countries.
A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to support our All-School Service Night. You helped us bring comfort to the people of Iraq and Ukraine by helping to color and knot quilts, coloring Ukrainian eggs, sampling authentic comfort food from those countries, playing badminton, packaging pencils and band-aids, and even duct taping two of our staff to the wall.
Thanks also to our local partners, Mennonite Central Committee and the MCC Material Resource Center in Harleysville. We collected over 2,600 pencils, 7,500 band-aids, and 6,500 bags to put them in—and had a lot of fun every step of the way. And if you weren't there for the highlight of the evening, here's your opportunity to see it (below)!
Top: Hundreds of dollars were raised $1 at a time, as students, faculty and friends bought strips of duct tape to tape Mr. Ryan Detweiler and Mrs. Jayne Longacre to the wall in the gym.
Right: Making Ukrainian pysanky eggs.
Below (video): The quietest you will ever hear Mrs. Longacre!
