Dear Dock Parents and Students,
I hope you had a meaningful Thanksgiving break and are staying safe and well.
These two weeks of remote learning were not what we wanted but have gone as well as we could have expected. This is indicative of our teachers’ excellent preparation and skill in engaging students as well as your encouragement and flexibility through rapid changes. We are grateful for these remote opportunities to stay engaged and learning.
We continue to plan for and expect to be back on campus on Monday, December 7, for as long as we are allowed. Please note at any time moving forward, we may need to suddenly shift to remote learning. We are grateful to have a flexible system in place to allow those changes.
Governor Wolf’s recent order includes a framework that county health officials will use in determining how to guide schools toward a safe environment in the weeks ahead. Each Dock campus may be considered separately in determining whether to have students learning on campus or remotely.
Our ability to stay on campus will depend on our collective consistency in being aware of and following COVID safety protocols. Your attention to these safety recommendations and communication with the school are key components as we work to extend the number of days we can stay on campus. Please contact our school nurse at firstname.lastname@example.org if your EC-8 or 9-12 student has experienced any of the following, even during the two remote learning weeks:
- tested positive for COVID-19
- experienced symptoms of illness
- had a known exposure to someone who tested positive
Notes from our Campuses:
1. All items (textbooks, reading/library books, and school Chromebooks, iPads, chargers, etc.) borrowed for the two remote weeks should be returned to school on Monday, Dec 7.
2. Return any of your child’s personal school supplies that were sent home for use in class.
3. Continue to watch Schoology and email for any updates. Be sure that other caregivers are informed of any changes to the school schedule that might arise.
4. Any student who is not yet comfortable coming back on campus on Monday may choose to remain as a remote learner by emailing your campus principal: EC-Grade 8 - Mrs. Histand or Grades 9-12 - Mr. Wiens by Friday noon.
5. Please note in the Updated Order of the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health Requiring Universal Face Coverings there are several changes to recommended practices regarding face coverings. We encourage you to review the updated order.
