Camp descriptions

3-2-1 Blast Off! 

Mrs. Cheryl Kulp, Dock Alum & Teacher, ages 4 - 6, July 11 - 15/AM          

Spend a week with us exploring outer space through books, crafts, hands-on activities, and more!    

     

Afternoon Adventures/After-Camp Care

Camp Staff, ages 4 - 14, all weeks/PM            

Dock will provide a variety of supervised activities each day from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM, some of which may include outdoor games, indoor games, crafts, computer time, reading/writing and quiet time/recuperation time (after the sports camps). All campers should bring a water bottle, packed lunch and afternoon snack. The cost is $110 per child for the week.

               

All Around the World            

Mrs. Cheryl Kulp, Dock Alum & Teacher, ages 4 - 6, June 27 - July 1          

Campers will travel the world and learn about Mexico, China, France, Kenya, and Russia. Each day we will do crafts, cook food, play games, and read stories from a different country.

 

Art and Soul

Miss Sarah Rittenhouse, Dock Faculty, ages 4 - 6, July 18 - 22/AM and July 25- 29/AM

Calling all aspiring artists! We'll explore a variety of different art mediums (painting, sculpting, drawing), and hear stories about popular artists, too.

                                                                                                                                                                                   

Beginner Taekwondo

Ms. Sun-ah Won, Dock Faculty, ages 7 - 10, July 25 - 29/AM

Taekwondo is a form of Korean martial arts. It is to be enjoyed not only as a sport, but those who practice will dive deep to learn more about respect, perseverance and self-control. This week will cover valuable daily life skills, such as cooperation, care for community, understanding body awareness, confidence and focus on self-control. Ms. Won is a kukkiwon (Taekwondo headquarters) certified black belt with over 10 years of instructing experience. She has trained with several world class champions and coaches.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

CAL Sports Coed Basketball

CAL Sports Coaches, ages 6 - 14, June 20 - 24 and July 27 - July 1/AM             

This co-ed camp is a fun-filled, action packed experience for youth basketball players. Players will learn the fundamentals of basketball such as passing, dribbling, and shooting. The CAL coaches will instruct and improve the athlete’s overall skill level as well as help boost their confidence on and off the court. Athletes will be placed in small groups based on their skill level so they can be challenged by their peers and receive the attention they deserve from each coach. This camp is great for beginner and intermediate level players and is an experience you won’t want to miss! Campers should wear sneakers and bring a water bottle.                 

 

Cereal Box Book Series!

Miss Sarah Rittenhouse, Dock Alum & Faculty, ages 7-12, June 20-24/AM and July 11-15/AM              

Calling all writers! Brand new to writing or a seasoned writer – this camp is for you! It is designed for a variety of different skill levels. We will be looking at mentor texts and writing our own mini book series. Bring your imagination and your love for writing. You will leave this camp with your very own book series and a series box to go with it! I am looking forward to seeing your thoughts jump onto the page and your love for writing grow!

 

Come Craft with Us!

Let’s spend the week getting creative! Each day we'll learn to make new and exciting crafts together—a whole week of creating our own fun!!!                                                                                                                                                           

 

Crafting in the Sunshine

Mrs. Taylor McKenney, Dock Alum & Faculty, ages 7-12, July 11-15/AM

During this week campers will be creating several different types of crafts to promote happiness and kindness throughout the community. Students will be working hands-on with yarn, paint, glue, and other materials. Let’s spread sunshine to those around you!!!

 

Crafting Music

Mrs. Hannah Yu, Dock Piano Teacher, ages 7 – 10, July 18-22/AM and July 25 - 29

We will have fun & creative time together by learning to play familiar songs on xylophones and by making & decorating our own miniature piano & various percussion instruments.  All will love their instruments and enjoy making music together! 🎶🎼🎶🎹🎶🥁🎶                   

 

Creation Station

Let’s get creative! Let your imagination run wild as we create crafts together. We will also be building with Legos, K’NEX, blocks and lots more!

 

Exploration with STEM/STEAM  SOLD OUT

Miss Megan Derstine, Dock Faculty, ages 7 - 10, June 20 - 24/AM

STEM/STEAM brings Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), and Art (STEAM) to children in a fun and challenging way. This camp will build upon their natural curiosity by teaching engineering concepts through hands-on learning. A $10 materials fee has been added to the price of this camp.

 

Fun with Fitness

Mrs. Taylor McKenney, Dock Alum & Faculty, ages 7 - 10, July 25 - 29

Come join me for some fitness fun! We will spend time learning how to make staying healthy and being physically fit fun for all ages. You will learn skills that you can take home and do with any adults at home. Some activities will include Zumba, HIIT workouts, yoga, etc.

 

Kids Can Cook! SOLD OUT

Miss Megan Derstine, Dock Faculty, ages 4-6, July 5-8/AM (4-day week)

Can you say spatula? Bring your chef’s hat and apron for cooking at camp this week! We'll learn how to use various kitchen utensils and equipment safely, experiment with different foods, and walk away with fabulous creations! A $10 materials fee has been added to the price of this camp.

Let’s Code!

Mrs. Taylor McKenney, Dock Alum & Faculty, ages 8 - 12, June 27 - July 1/AM

Code is the set of instructions for what actions a computer should take to perform a task. This week will be full of various coding challenges to create games and flip book animations, block code algorithms, characters using programs like Scratch and much more! (Parental permission is required for the creation of Scratch accounts for participating children).

Have you ever been camping? This is great for the children who have camped before and for those who have never been camping! Bringing the experience to them! We will be going on a nature walk, making natural creations, flashlight reading and so much more.

Have you ever been to a zoo? Which animals are your favorites? This week, we'll spend our time learning about different animals and their life at the zoo.

 

Listen to Your Art

Miss Sarah Rittenhouse, Dock Faculty, ages 7 – 12, June 27 - July 1/AM and July 5 – 8/AM

We will be exploring a variety of different art mediums. We will take a look at different artists and try our hand at creating our own versions of their work. We will experiment with cartoon drawing and self-portraits as well. We will draw, paint, craft, and create a variety of artwork throughout the week!

           

Moving Creations

Mrs. Taylor McKenney, Dock Alum & Faculty, ages 8-12, July 18 -22/AM

Using K’NEX, we will investigate the difference between pneumatic builds and hydraulic builds.  Each camper will leave camp with 9 different models and 18 experiments.  These investigations will use engineering and hands-on activities to increase a camper's knowledge in the field of STEM.  A $40 fee is included for an engineering kit that campers will take home at the end of the camp week.

 

Once Upon a Time  Space available July 18-22 (July 25-29 canceled)    

Mrs. Rachel Myers, Dock Faculty, ages 8-12, July 18 - 22/AM and July 25- 29/AM             

Let's journey to a faraway place in a faraway land.  Join us in exploring some of our favorite adventures, heroes, fairytales and mystical stories. We will explore enchanted  themes such as generosity, integrity, honesty, courage and more. We will also spend some time each day reading, writing, and exploring through art, drama, and music. Looking forward to seeing where your creativity, inspiration, and innovative imaginations will take us!

 

Summer with Seuss               

Ms. Laura Almond, Dock Staff, ages 4 - 6, July 5 -8/AM              

Sneetches and Horton and the Whos, oh my! It’ll be a rhyming good week exploring all that Dr. Seuss has to offer! Every day, campers will hear a different Dr. Seuss book and embark on a wild adventure. Activities may include scavenger hunts, Seuss crafts, puppets—the list goes on and on!                           

                                                                          

The Circus is Coming!

The circus is coming to town! Campers will be engaged in a variety of activities and crafts based upon the circus theme. There will be many laughs to be shared, books to read and fun to be had!

Under the Sea

Come and explore the ocean with us. Let’s learn about all the creatures of the sea while playing games, making crafts, and having a splashing good time!                                                                                                                 

 

You’re the Zest!

Mrs. Taylor McKenney, Dock Alum & Faculty, ages 10-12, June 20 - 24/AM and July 5-8/AM     

To bake or not to bake? Throughout this baking camp, students will learn the best methods to make various baked goods such as cookies, cakes, and other yummy treats. We will ask that all baked goods are boxed or wrapped up and consumed at home. Campers should bring plastic containers from home to transport their yummy treats!! A $10 materials fee has been added to the cost of this camp.

 

Upward Adventure Games Camp

Upward Camp Staff, Ages 8-10, July 5-8/AM

Many local families know Upward through their Basketball and Flag Football leagues. Now we invite you to join us for some great Summer Camp fun! Sign up for Adventure Games Camp and have a blast playing outdoor games like Capture the Flag, Manhunt, Mission Impossible, and others. We’ll also have indoor options in case of bad weather or high heat, such as Dodgeball, Minute to Win It and more. We’ll also use our time this week to build character and help young campers make good decisions—because life is more than a game. Campers should wear sneakers and bring a water bottle.

Upward Camp Staff, Ages 11-14, July 11-15/AM

Many local families know Upward through local Basketball and Flag Football leagues. Now we invite you to join us for some great Summer Camp fun! Sign up for Adventure Games Camp and have a blast playing outdoor games like Capture the Flag, Manhunt, Mission Impossible, and others. We’ll also have indoor options in case of bad weather or high heat, such as Dodgeball, Minute to Win It and more. We will take the same approach with our Upward Flag Football Camp—but that doesn’t mean we aren’t serious about improving your skills as a player. You will receive skills training at every position, with extra development in your favorite areas. We’ll end every camp day with scrimmages and games that will put what you’ve learned into practice. We’ll also use our time this week to build character and help young players make good decisions on and off the field—because life is more than a game. Campers should wear sneakers, bring cleats (optional) and a water bottle.

 

Upward Flag Football Camp

Upward Camp Staff, Ages 11-14, July 25-29/AM

If you are familiar with our Upward Flag Football league, you know the emphasis is always on FUN. We will take the same approach with our Upward Flag Football Camp—but that doesn’t mean we aren’t serious about improving your skills as a player. You will receive skills training at every position, with extra development in your favorite areas. We’ll end every camp day with scrimmages and games that will put what you’ve learned into practice. We’ll also use our time this week to build character and help young players make good decisions on and off the field—because life is more than a game. Campers should wear sneakers (plastic cleats optional) and a water bottle.
