2019 Summer Camp Descriptions

Non-Sports Camps

Afternoon Adventures

AGES 4-14, LED BY CAMP STAFF, $100 ($80 July 1-5)

Each day will be a variety of activities, some of which may include - outdoor games, indoor
games, crafts, computer time, reading/writing and quiet time/recuperation time (after the
sports camps).

 

After Sports Camp Care

AGES 4-14, LED BY CAMP STAFF, $100

Each day will be a variety of activities, some of which may include - outdoor games, indoor
games, crafts, computer time, reading/writing and quiet time/recuperation time (after the
sports camps). A $35 discount will be applied for registration of a full week.

 

All Things Summer!

AGES 4-6, WITH JENNA RHODES, Dock alum and TEACHER, $105

With summer finally here, let’s explore all of the exciting things that go along with it! Campers will engage in many different activities, crafts and games with each day of the camp focusing on a different fun activity we all do in summertime. We will look at the beach, camping, a day at the pool, summer sweet treats, and amusement parks. Join us as we experience a whole week of the best summer activities!

 

Dock's Amazing Race

AGES 7-14, with claire wanamaker, DOCK TEACHER, $105

Campers will travel from “state to state” completing various challenges, physical as well as mental.  They must avoid the roadblocks and detours that will be set up. Some challenges might require a partner or a small group to accomplish. Lace up your sneakers and grab your backpack. This camp is going to be full of laughter, excitement and definitely a race to the finish line.

 

Around the World

AGES 4-6, with cheryl kulp, DOCK alum and TEACHER, $105

Campers will travel the world and learn about Mexico, China, France, Kenya, and Russia. Each day we will do crafts, cook food, play games, and read stories from a different from country.

 

Culinary Creations

AGES 9 - 14, WITH KIPP (MOYER) GLASS, DOCK TEACHER, $115

This week will immerse ourselves in everything culinary. We will build a repertoire of delicious
food that we can make with minimal adult assistance, develop our kitchen safety skills, and
understand what it means to have a balanced diet. A cookbook of recipes will be our souvenir
of our week of Culinary Creations so we can make them for others at home. A $10.00
ingredients/supply fee is added to the camp cost.

 

Design and Build This!

Ages 9-12, with Livia Wiley, Dock Parent (and Chemical Engineer), $115

Calling all Design Engineers! In this camp, you will be tasked with a new STEM building challenge each day. Build a balloon rocket that flies the highest, a bottle car that goes the farthest, a hammock that is the strongest, a roller coaster that goes the fastest, and a tower that is the tallest yet safest. You will learn the basics of the Engineering Design Process and the science behind each feat.A $10.00 ingredients/supply fee is added to the camp cost.

 

Discovering Da Vinci  

Ages 7 - 14, with Claire Wanamaker, Dock Teacher, $95            

Painting. Experimenting. Coding. Architecture. Sculpting. These are just some of the things Leonardo Da Vinci dappled in during the Renaissance Period. Come be your own Renaissance resident. A $10.00 ingredients/supply fee is added to the camp cost.

 

Dock's Got Talent

AGES 7 - 14, with claire wanamaker, DOCK TEACHER, $105

Singer. Musician. Thespian. What is your talent? Do you have more than one? Come share these talents with other campers. Not sure what your talent might be? This might be a great way to figure out what it is. Our days will be filled with various music and drama activities. There will be lots of laughter and funny costumes. We will end the week with a talent show for family and friends.

 

Exploration with STEM/STEAM

AGES 7 - 10, WITH TRISH LANDIS, DOCK TEACHER, $105

STEM/STEAM brings Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), and Art (STEAM) to
children in a fun and challenging way. This camp will build upon their natural curiosity by
teaching engineering concepts through hands-on learning.

 

Fantasy Land

AGES 4 - 6, WITH tanya frankenfield, DOCK parent and staff member, $105

Unicorns, mermaids, fairies oh my!  Kids imaginations will run wild at this camp as we read stories, play games and make crafts based on these fun mythical creatures! If your children love to make believe this is the camp for them!

 

Gaming Our Way Through Math       

Ages 10-14, with Anika Thomas, Dock Alum and Teacher, $105

Believe it or not, but math is fun! Brush up on your math skills and learn some new math skills! If you love math or are uneasy about it, this camp for you. We will be playing all kinds of math games during the week.

 

Get in the STREAM: Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art & Mathematics

Ages 10-14, with Anika Thomas, Dock Alum and Teacher, $105

The world around us involves science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and mathematics, so let’s learn about it that way. Come discover the world as we float through the STREAM. Be prepared for anything. A fun-filled week of interactive STREAM activities. 

 

Inventor's Workshop

AGES 7 – 14, WITH claire wanamaker, DOCK teacher, $115

Curiosity. Experimentation. Imagination. Campers will find inventive solutions to various daily and/or weekly challenges. There will be time to tinker with Legos, KNEX, magnets, robotic kits and fun noodles. Campers will create their own carnival game during the week. Come develop your problem solving skills. Work on some brainstorming strategies. Be prepared to think outside of the box! A $10.00 ingredients/supply fee is added to the camp cost.


Let’s Go Camping!

AGES 4 – 6, WITH laura almond, DOCK staff, $105

Have you ever been camping? This is great for the children who have camped before and for
those who have never been camping! Bringing the experience to them! We will be going on a
nature walk, making natural creations, flashlight reading and so much more.

 

Once Upon An Adventure     

Ages 7-10, with Rachael Grimm, Teacher, $105

Fee Fi Fo Fum, join us as we read some of our favorite adventures, heroes, and fairytale stories! We’ll explore common themes such as kindness and courage. We’ll spend some time each day writing our own tales. We’ll also explore these stories through drama, art, and music.

 

Rockin' Recreation

AGES 7-14, WITH JAYNE LONGACRE, DOCK TEACHER, $85

Games, games, games! Come and join in the fun playing your favorite active games from PE
class! Examples: prison dodge, medical doctor, go for the gold, diamond mine, pirate ship, and
more. We'll finish the class each day with a little cup-stacking.


 

Skipping Through the Seasons

AGES 4 – 6, WITH CHERYL KULP, TEACHER & DOCK ALUM, $105

Campers will take a quick trip through the four seasons, spending one day on each. Every day, they will do crafts, sensory activities and games. There will also be many stories to read to help kiddos explore and learn about the season of the day!

 

Summer with Seuss   

Ages 4-6, with Laura Almond, Dock Staff, $85

Sneetches and Horton and Whos, Oh My! It’ll be a rhyming good week exploring all that Dr. Seuss has to offer! Every day, campers will hear a different Dr. Seuss book and embark on a wild adventure. Activities may include scavenger hunts, Seuss crafts, puppets—the list goes on and on…

 

Under the Big Top!


AGES 4-6, WITH JILLIAN IMMEL, DOCK TEACHER, $105

The circus is coming to town! Campers will be engaged in a variety of activities and crafts based upon the camp theme. There will be many books to read and fun to be had!

 

Sports Camps

Basketball

AGES 6-14, CAL Sports academy coaches, $220

Are you looking for a program that uses innovative and progressive drills to target your players' needs to progress on the court? Your player will learn dribbling, passing, shooting, game positions, offensive and defensive techniques, and more.

 

All-Sports        

Ages 6-14, cal sports academy coaches, $220

CAL All-Sports Program teaches children the fundamentals of each sport.  Children will build confidence, learn the value of teamwork and sportsmanship while exploring the athletic abilities.  This is a great opportunity for children to learn a variety of sports to determine which sport they love best. This camp is for kids who love sports, being on a team, and developing their all around athletic ability!

 

Soccer

Ages 6-14, CAL SPORTS academy coaches, $220  

This program focuses on learning the fundamental soccer skills in a fun, non-competitive environment in which your child will be excited to learn. The program will gradually progress from dribbling to game type scenarios throughout the week. Your child will get a "KICK" out of this camp!

 

Sports Explorers

AGES 4-5, CAL Sports academy coaches, $105

The focus of the Sports Explorers Program is to teach children the fundamentals of motor skills. Children will build confidence, learn the value of teamwork and sportsmanship while exploring the basic athletic abilities. This is a great opportunity for children to learn a variety of sports to determine which sport they love best.
 

Volleyball

AGES 8-14, CaL Sports academy coaches, $220

Your child will use innovative and progressive drills to develop the essential skills needed to progress on and off the court. Your player will learn passing, setting, hitting, serving, offensive systems, defensive systems, and more!

 

After Sports Camp Care

AGES 4-14, dock camp staff, $100

Each day will be a variety of activities, some of which may include - outdoor games, indoor games, crafts, computer time, reading/writing and quiet time/recuperation time (after the sports camps). A $35 discount will be applied for registration of a full week.

CAL Sports Academy Camps

Cal Sports believes all players need to be well-rounded in every aspect of the mind, body, and soul. Through the instruction of our coaches, players will learn teamwork, communication, listening, and leadership, to help advance players to be the best they can be both on and off the court. Your player may come in with the basics, but will leave with skills that will last a lifetime.

Supplies needed for sports camps

All Sports: sunscreen & water bottle are recommended.

Coed Basketball: water bottle

Coed Soccer: sunscreen & water bottle are recommended (+ shin guards for older campers).

Coed Volleyball: knee pads and water bottle

CLEATS are not required for any of the sports camps. If your camper wears cleats, indoor shoes are required also (slides or sneakers). In the event of rain, sneakers are needed for indoor activities. Cleats cannot be worn indoors.
