Detweiler House

Detweiler House, also known as the main office, is the center of our beautiful campus here at Dock. Once home to a portion of the Underground Railroad, the building dates back to the early 19th century. Inside Detweiler House, you'll find a welcoming smile from receptionist Mrs. Lindsay Stout, along with a few other faces such as Mr. Doug Hackman (principal), Mr. Bob Rutt (Director of Advancement), and Mr. Cody Powis (Advancement Assistant). These people are what make our school thrive, all from inside this historic building.  Detweiler House is named after Richard Detweiler, Christopher Dock Mennonite High School's founding principal (1954-1963).  

Rosenburger Academic Center

Rosenberger Academic Center is among the newest additions to our campus. In the fall of 2006, the Rosenberger Academic Center became accessible to students and is also home to the Conrad Grebel Library.  This building has a variety of sections that Dock students use to further their education, including the Guidance Office, Math Department, Science Department, and STEM Lab. Before the year 2006, Grebel Hall, a considerably older structure, served as a time capsule for Dock Academy's past. It was originally simply a regular old barn, but in the 1950s, it underwent various changes to become separate classrooms for teaching.  Rosenberger Academic Center is named after the Rosenberger family, who along with many other supporters, were one of the main sponsors of the construction of the building.

Current Dock student Katelyn Newell (‘23), shared about her favorite place in Rosenberger Academic Center: “I love to soak up the sun with my friends in the big glass windows. It’s a great place to go during lunch when we want to relax”.  Another Dock student, Cameron Lesuer ('24), shared about his favorite class in Rosenberger: “I enjoyed taking Chemistry with Mrs. Smith because I loved the hands-on experiments, which really helped me learn the material”. Students utilize various parts of this building, including the daily Stick-ball game played by a large group of students throughout all grades, which takes place on the lawn outside of the building every day half way through lunch. 

Dielman Hall

Dielman Hall was built in 1978, and is currently home to the Social Studies, Bible, and English Departments.  The first renovations to the building took place in 2007, when the Science Department moved to their new home in Rosenberger Academic Center.  This building is named after the local Anabaptist leader, Dielman Kolb, who settled in Montgomery County in 1717, and is known for assisting in translating the Martyrs' Mirror from Dutch to German, and also encouraged his friend, Christopher Dock (who Dock Mennonite Academy is named after) to publish Schulordnung, which was the colonies first published book on school management and pedagogy.  In the summer of 2023, construction began for a more extensive renovation to Dielman Hall to allow for updated classroom facilities and an expanded commons area.  

Longacre Center/Clemens Center

Built in 1963, Clemens Center was built and provided the school with a dedicated cafeteria, gym, and chapel.  It was the first new structure built by the school after it's founding in 1954. Countless important events have happened in Clemens Center, from graduation and district basketball games, to the simpler daily things like lunch and chapel. In 1977-78, An additional six classrooms were added to Clemens which currently house the Music Department and Milagre School.  At the end of the 2021-22 school year, new tables and chairs were installed in the cafeteria to replace the old ones from the 60s. Clemens Center is named after Paul R. Clemens, a founding member of the school.

In 1997, Longacre Center was officially opened for student use.  The 45,000 square foot building includes a state of the art gymnasium, 200-seat theater, racquetball courts, fitness center, classrooms, and other facilities that contribute to athletic and cultural events on Dock's campus.  The building was named Longacre Center to memorialize the gifts that Horace Longacre and his family contributed to the construction and also their assistance in gathering additional community gifts and support to make the building possible.  Mosaic Conference offices are also currently in the building.  

Art Building

The Art Building was a part of the Rosenberger Academic Center building project, moving the Art facilities out of the abandoned Grebel Hall building to it's own building next to Groff Pond.  Art has always been an important part of Dock's school tradition, and now the Art Building has dedicated state of the art facilities for ceramics, drawing, painting, and graphic design.  With large windows overlooking Groff Pond, it is an ideal place on campus for students to find solace and inspiration as they pursue their interests in art!

Sports Facilities

Students that attend Dock have access to sports facilities that are immaculately maintained.  Longacre gymnasium opened in fall 1997, and provides state of the art facilities that include an indoor track, racquetball courts, and fitness center.  The track and field stadium and turf field were added to Dock's campus in fall 2002.  Additional sports facilities include baseball field, softball field, and tennis courts.  

Groff Pond

The pond on Dock's campus has been a part of Dock's school history since it was installed in 1958.  The pond is named after Claude Groff, who was a parent of Dock students and also volunteered countless hours for many years helping to maintain the grounds on Dock's campus.  From fishing, paddle boarding in Outdoor Adventure class, to the Physics Boat Race that occurs every year in the All School Social, Groff Pond is an integral part of many Dock traditions that help make our school a special place.
